WHAT DOES THE YOUTH PROJECT DO?Mission StatementThe Mendocino County Youth Project's mission is to support the development of healthy youth. We offer opportunities for children, adolescents, adults, and their families to acquire the guidance and skills they need to enhance self-esteem and establish healthy relationships so they may contribute to and strengthen our diverse community. HistoryThe Mendocino County Youth Project was established in 1974 by a collaborative effort of the Probation Department and the County Office of Education (MCOE) as a special program to provide counseling, social work, and advocacy services to school age at-risk children, youth and their families. In 1992 it became a joint powers agency established by MCOE, school districts and city governments. The Mendocino County Youth Project works in partnership with a private non-profit. Mendocino Family and Youth Services, which was created to assist in developing a broader resource base to assist youth and their families.
